From the CAN bus to the control room

The NCG reads the vehicle's CAN/J1939 bus and distributes the data over the onboard Ethernet network, in the format of the ITxPT standards; the 5G Gateway carries that network to the cellular network. On the other side is the SAE — the onboard system that runs the operation inside the bus — and it's the SAE that talks to the PCC: it reports position, trip, status and events, and gets back duty assignments, notices and timetable changes.
