From tender specification to a vehicle ready to run: we design the onboard architecture that meets what the tender requires, then install, test and validate the equipment on every vehicle, one at a time.

Two capabilities, one project.

Most of what goes into a public transport vehicle is not a catalogue part — it is a solution designed to answer a specific tender specification, then fitted, tested and handed over working. That is what NSS does beyond the equipment it manufactures: adapting the project to the tender specification and installing the onboard equipment.

Adapting to the tender specification

Every tender defines its own architecture: what equipment goes in, how it communicates, which standards it has to meet, and what documentation it has to produce. We design that architecture with regulatory compliance as the starting point — not a last-minute check — so the onboard network, the equipment selection and the technical documentation are closed before installation begins.

Onboard architecture, built to spec

An onboard network designed for the specific tender — what equipment goes in, how it talks to itself and to the central control room, and how passenger traffic is kept separate from operational traffic.

Equipment selection and integration

Selecting and integrating destination indicators, consoles, video surveillance, passenger counting, network and connectivity into one coherent system — not loose parts talking past each other.

Open industry standards

Support for open interoperability standards where the product allows it — ITxPT on the onboard network, GTFS/GTFS-Realtime and NeTEx for timetable exchange — so the operator is not locked to a single supplier.

Technical documentation

Wiring diagrams, manuals and validation reports delivered per vehicle, for the operator and for the vehicle integrator.

INSTALLATION

Installing the onboard equipment

Once the project is closed, we fit the equipment on board the vehicle, test every system installed, and document that validation — vehicle by vehicle, not by sampling.

Mechanical and electrical fitting

Installation and wiring of the equipment defined in the project — technical compartment, driver's position, passenger saloon and the outside of the vehicle.

Per-vehicle testing

Checking ignition and permanent voltages, connections and the operation of every system installed, before signing the vehicle off as ready.

Documented validation

A validation and functional test report per vehicle, with photographic record, kept as evidence between NSS and whoever receives the vehicle.

Follow-up on site

Our own team present during the fleet rollout, on hand to resolve what only shows up once the vehicle is in real operation.

One team, from design to the road.

Engineering, production and installation are the same team, based in Portugal. Whoever designs the solution is the same person who later sees it fitted on the vehicle — no hand-off to a third party between the tender specification and the finished vehicle.
