RAILFLECT

A mirror that also watches out for you.

RAILFLECT replaces mechanical rear-view mirrors with an exterior camera and a cab monitor — with no dependence on network or cloud connectivity.

Full vision, no blind spots.

RAILFLECT is a digital mirror system for rail rolling stock: it replaces mechanical rear-view mirrors with an exterior camera and a cab monitor.

Each installation combines two exterior cameras — left side and right side — with two corresponding cab monitors, showing real-time, full-screen video with no overlaying of multiple sources.

System architecture

Exterior camera + cab monitor

Captures the side/rear view in real time, mounted in place of the mechanical rear-view mirror, and displays it full-screen on the cab monitor.

Fail-safe on loss of video

Detects an interruption in the incoming video feed in under 2 seconds and switches to a black screen — instead of holding the last frame, which could be misleading.

Automatic reconnection

Retries the connection with increasing back-off, with no manual intervention and no system restart, as soon as the signal is restored.

EN 50155 (reference)

European standard for electronic equipment in rail rolling stock — reference for RAILFLECT's exterior camera.

EN 45545 (reference)

European standard for fire reaction in rail rolling stock — reference for the exterior camera.

Mechanical protection (reference class)

IP66/IP67 and IK10 impact-resistance class — reference values for the exterior camera.
